Running events in Hamburg 2026/2027: the full race calendar

A flat, certified loop through Wandsbek out to Berne underground station and back, starting and finishing in front of the Quarree. Solo or as a three-person relay — the choice for a fast autumn time without big-city crowds.

A friendly club race run by SC Wentorf in the nature reserve just beyond the city boundary. On the 3 km loop you choose anything between 1.5 and 9 km, plus 5 km walking — deliberately small, with a tent village and electronic timing.

Same day as the PSD Bank half marathon — short distances here, the half marathon there.

Along the upper Alsterwanderweg — considerably greener and quieter than the city races. The half marathon is the third scoring race of the Laufcup; with 10 km, 4 km and kids’ races it is a family event as well.

One crossing of the Köhlbrandbrücke, otherwise closed to pedestrians — the only race with this view over the harbour. All three start waves were taken about nine months in advance; there is a resale exchange for places.

Five people run a marathon together: each runs two 4.2 km laps through the western Stadtpark. Organised by the marathon section of FC St. Pauli, with proceeds going to charitable projects in Hamburg.

A loop around the Bramfelder See, a club race with a friendly atmosphere and fair fees. Limits: 700 in the half marathon, 400 over 10 km, 300 over 5 km.

A charity run through the Altes Land over asphalt, farm tracks and cobbles — also as a relay, with a dog, or walking. Same day as the Bramfelder half marathon.

The only hill race in the city: 40 metres of climbing up the Energieberg with a view over the harbour, the Elbe and the skyline. Choose the stair sprint, 5 or 9 km, plus kids’ races — noon to 4 pm, anniversary edition.

An evening race at dusk through the Speicherstadt world heritage site and the Kontorhaus quarter, on a 3 km loop from the customs museum. At €12 one of the cheapest races in the city and open to non-members; the 10 km doubles as the Hamburg championship.

Saturday evening — the hella half marathon is the day after, and doing both is possible.

One of the largest half marathons in Germany, straight through the middle of the city. The 2026 edition was moved from summer to October because of a heatwave — cooler conditions, and entries reopened on 12 August.

A traditional club forest race on the first Sunday in November: one or two laps on woodland paths, unpretentious, inexpensive, with a good 150 runners. Ideal for a quiet fitness test away from the crowds.

The anniversary edition of the HNT classic: from the CU Arena through the Altes Land to Neuenfelde and back — flat, rural and officially certified, so the time counts for rankings.

An established road race run by TuS Holstein Quickborn with chip timing, free parking, changing rooms — and childcare during the race.

Same day as the Süderelbe half marathon — 5 and 10 km here, the half marathon there.

A club race in the Niendorfer Gehege on the same day as the opening of the Bramfeld series. The organiser has not yet published distances or entry details — the date comes from the hamburg.de race calendar.

The winter series of SV Eidelstedt with a long series (10 to 21.1 km), a short series (5 to 7.5 km) and kids’ races — a good way to build distance systematically over the winter.

Only the opening race is confirmed so far (hamburg.de, as of July); further dates in the series will follow on the organiser’s page.

A forest run with a Christmas tree at the end: 6 or 12 km through the Klövensteen, then pick up a sustainably grown tree from the forestry operation. No time pressure, with fire barrels at the finish.

Official for the first time: 100 km (or 50) on the second Green Ring, once around Hamburg, on 5 and 6 December through darkness, cold and North German weather — running or walking. Only for people used to very long distances and winter conditions.

The most eccentric Christmas race in the city: 5 km through St. Pauli including a passage through the Millerntor stadium, most people in Santa costume. The 2025 edition sold out with 4,900 runners.

The date is fixed only once the football fixtures are out, and entries open in autumn — expect it to sell out.

The end-of-year race of LAV Hamburg-Nord: from midday, a 2.6 km loop around the Teichwiesen, run one to four times. No chip-timing technology, but a doughnut and a hot drink for everyone at the finish.

Out to the Krupunder See and back, with chip timing and a medal for everyone. Elbgaustraße S-Bahn station is right by the stadium. 450 places — do not leave entering until December.

A small New Year’s Eve event from the “Fun & Erlebnis Marathons” series, run in laps and a meeting point for the marathon-collector scene — measured, but explicitly not a competitive race. The same organiser puts on a marathon at the Volksdorf Teichwiesen almost every week.

A scenic 5 km loop through the Inselpark, up to four times — you do not have to commit to a number of laps in advance, the timing counts every one. A good substitute for racing in winter and useful marathon preparation.

The cult winter race of SSC Hagen Ahrensburg with over 1,000 runners: 12 km through the forest over moraine hills, a boardwalk across the moor and past the castle ruins. Instead of a medal you get the “Lümmel” at the finish — a sausage. Reachable by U1.

An unhurried start to the year from Lauftreff Wedel, in pace groups including walkers — finishing counts here, not the clock. Traditionally on the first Sunday in January.

A genuine cross-country race from HNT through the Neugraben and Fischbek heath: sand, gravel and roots in the nature reserve, not a single road kilometre — one of the few real cross-country opportunities in Hamburg. Traditionally on the last Sunday in January.

A long-standing spring race on the Elbe island: the Elbinsel half marathon, the Insel 10K, the Mühlenlauf over 5 km and a schools race. A popular fitness test three weeks before the Haspa Marathon. Entries open.

Germany’s largest race for children and teenagers: around 10,000 school pupils run a tenth of the marathon distance around the exhibition grounds — on the day before the Haspa Marathon. From pre-school to sixth form.

The big classic of the spring. The half marathon and the relay are already taken; around 5,000 places remain for the marathon. If you want to start here, the build-up begins in winter — roughly 16 weeks out.

A simultaneous worldwide start at 1 pm and no finish line: a virtual catcher car eventually catches you. In Hamburg groups usually run along the Alster or the Elbe. The entry fee goes entirely to spinal cord research.

Northern Germany’s largest corporate and charity run: nearly 20,000 participants in over 560 teams of ten or more, with proceeds going to children’s and youth projects in Hamburg. Not a competition — pace is beside the point.

An ecological, sustainable and entirely volunteer-run summer race from Lauftreff Alstertal, built around the 17 UN goals. Held on 19 June in 2026; the 2027 date is still open.
